Compression springs generate the braking torque by frictional locking. The brake is released electromagnetically. When no current is applied, the brake is applied automatically.<\/p><p>When braking, the rotor is pressed against the friction plate by means of the compression springs. To release the brake, the coil in the magnetic part is placed under DC voltage.
